Beyond the regular conversion flow, trips support a few lifecycle states worth knowing.

Trip Holding
When a customer has committed but not paid, put the trip On Hold instead of fully converting it. Holding:
- Initializes all service bookings (hotels, transport, activities) so reservations can start early — with payments in an on-hold status.
- Generates a holding email and trip voucher with the payment schedule.
- Auto-assigns reservation and operations teams, same as conversion.

Convert the trip from hold to confirmed when the payment arrives. Instalment listings have a filter to exclude on-hold booking payments.
Dropping a Converted Trip
If a converted trip cancels, drop it — refund instalments are created automatically for the customer and from suppliers, and you can record cancellation charges per service. All service bookings move to the “Trip Dropped” stage with no further updates. Dropped trips remain visible in the Dropped tab.

Trip Locking
Trips auto-lock 7 days after their end date — locked trips prevent all detail modifications, protecting completed records for accounting. Admins can:
- Manually lock a trip earlier from the Past Trips section.
- Unlock a locked trip if a correction is genuinely needed.

Auto-Cancellation of Stalled Leads
Leads in New or In-Progress status whose trip end date passed 2+ days ago are cancelled automatically to keep your pipeline clean. They can be restored manually if needed.

Old Data Archival
Old, rarely-modified data moves to an archival bucket automatically — cancelled trips after one month, converted trips one year after their start date. Archived data stays fully accessible via the fresh/archival toggle in Global Search and Advanced Filters.
